08 November 2024

South African national football team Bafana Bafana are set to play their first game in Cape Town in nine years. DHL Stadium will host the African Cup of Nations qualification match on Tuesday, 19 November 2024.

Tickets for the African Cup of Nations qualifier are officially on sale and are available through Ticketpro.

They are also available at any Ticketpro outlets, SPAR, SUPERSPAR, Putco, Postnet, Jam clothing, Shell, SASOL and BP garages.

Tickets cost R60 for adults and R30 for children under 12.

Bafana Bafana will be hoping to shore up qualification for the tournament to be held in Morocco in 2025.

The match against South Sudan is the final game of the six-round qualifying campaign for the continental competition.

Hugo Broos’ team is currently in second place in the qualifying group, just two points behind leader Uganda.

It will be the national football team’s first game in the Mother City since their 2 – 1 win against Angola in an international friendly in 2015.

‘We are thrilled to welcome Bafana Bafana back to Cape Town for their Afcon qualifier against South Sudan on the 19 November. Nine years has been far too long without a Bafana Bafana match in the Mother City, and we will pull out all the stops to ensure that this is a memorable day for Cape Town’s passionate soccer fans. I urge Capetonians to come out to support our national team. Kickoff is at 18:00, so let’s all get our tickets early, and then turn up in great numbers to support Bafana as they strive to qualify for Morocco 2025,’ said Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis.

‘It has been almost a decade since we had a Bafana game in our city and we want to make it a special and memorable occasion for all. Our City teams are working with the South African Football Association behind the scenes to finalise plans for this important fixture. Our safety and security team will be partnering with the event organiser, SAPS and other stakeholders to put together the logistical and safety plans for what will be an unforgettable return to Cape Town for Bafana Bafana. We will make an announcement on those logistical plans once they are finalised,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

The match is scheduled for an 18:00 kick-off, with gates set to open at 15:00.
